Father Bob was a dear friend of all at Banksia Gardens, who understood not only the challenges faced by our community, but the important contributions that our people make to our society. He saw value in people where others did not. He was dogged in his pursuit of social justice, particularly for those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. He was a man who truly lived his values.
Father Bob’s generosity towards Banksia Gardens was second to none, including through donations from the Fr Bob McGuire Foundation, his support of our food relief program and his RoboBus which provided invaluable STEM education to children in our community during school holidays.
Banksia Gardens has lost one of its greatest champions today, but we will continue his legacy and passion for the people of Broadmeadows.
