Study Group General Information
Banksia Gardens first ran a study group in 2005. Over the years, the program has experienced enormous growth and has gradually gained prominence to become one of the foundations of all young people’s programs at Banksia Gardens Community Services.
This program of study groups is supported by the Newsboys Foundation, the Kimberley Foundation, Melbourne Airport, Danks Trust, Mercy Foundation, Nelson Alexander Foundation, Australian Communities Foundation including Vanraay Family Sub-fund, Matana Foundation for Young People and Hume City Council. This support enables students attending the programs to gain confidence and enhance their academic progress, as well as expanding their social, emotional and recreational skills.
In its current form, the Banksia Gardens Study Group consists of several distinct programs which focus on students with different needs. All of these programs recognise the need for academic support with some offering additional activities on completion of study, such as board games, computer club or sport.
