In May this year Neighbourhood Houses Victoria (NH VIC) presented three inaugural sector awards in recognition of the valuable work neighbourhood houses deliver for local communities.

Kelly Alexander and Georgia Ransome accepted the Fiona Richardson Award for Gender Equity on behalf of the Good People Act Now (GPAN) project.

We were very proud to be the recipients of this award. Not only does it acknowledge the work we do in promoting gender equality and preventing violence against women, but to be given an award in the name of the late Fiona Richardson was a very humbling experience.

Fiona Richardson was the Minister for Women and Minister for Prevention of Family Violence from 2014-2017, overseeing the Royal Commission into Family Violence. Fiona ensured Victoria became a leader in this space and we have seen tremendous progress being made to end violence against women since the Royal Commission report was released in 2016.

This award recognises the passionate work of all GPANers over the life of the project, 2014 to present.
