BGCS operations from 24 March 2020

As many of you will have heard, the Premier Daniel Andrews has announced lock down measures to combat the spread of coronavirus in Victoria in conjunction with measures across the country. As such, all non-essential activity across the country will also be locked down.

From Tuesday 24 March, Banksia Gardens Community Services at our headquarters in Pearcedale Parade will be closed to the public. Some of our programs and services operations will be on hold for the time being and other programs/services are moving to online delivery.

Programs and services currently on hold:

  • Study Group & associated activities (soccer, Arts & Craft, drumming, etc)
  • School Holiday Program
  • Jewellery making
  • Sewing
  • Yoga 
  • Knitting
  • Hall/venue hire
  • Community Lunch
  • Turkish Women’s Group

Services and programs that will continue to operate (some online), but with some changes:

  • Broadmeadows Youth Justice Alliance
  • Good People Act Now (GPAN) 
  • Social Cohesion Through Education
  • Project REAL
  • The Gateway School – students have now gone on holidays, although staff will be onsite until Friday 27 March
  • Youth Transitions
  • Aiming High VCE Support Program

  • AtWork Australia
  • Food parcels at both BGCS headquarters and at Kenley Court Neighbourhood House

We are first and foremost a community services organisation, and we will try our best during the difficult times to continue supporting community needs.
