A suite of Computer Skills programs is offered to beginners, intermediate and advanced users. Each course is designed to improve confidence in using technology and software applications. Our experienced IT teachers provide a supportive classroom environment to guide you through computer and mobile technologies.

At Banksia Gardens Community Services we also have a Computer Access Program that provides local residents with low-cost, high quality, second hand computers refurbished by our IT consultant. Find out more here.

Computers for beginners

Book into a suite of beginner classes, including Mouse and Keyboard Skills, Basic Computer Skills, Basic Internet and Introduction to Gmail.

Basic Computer Courses are a flexible way to learn what you need. We offer one on one courses over short periods to cover the essentials, group and classroom courses. Our trainers will give you the skills to learn and perform common day to day tasks.

Computer for intermediates

This course is for you if you feel comfortable with a mouse and keyboard but are struggling to navigate common programs and want to learn the basics and a few tips and tricks. You will learn general Windows 10 navigation, work with different programs, word processing and excel spreadsheets, printing, emails & internet.

Computers for advanced skills

From word processing and spreadsheets, to PowerPoint presentations and mail merges, the course will teach its learners the major skills needed to thrive in the modern workplace. These sorts of skills will make you the perfect candidate for many jobs.

Intel Learn Easy Steps:

A basic technology literacy education program based on the Intel Learn Easy Steps program for adult learners with little or no experience with computers. Participants learn the ‘basics’ of the computer, enabling them to use the computer in ways that are relevant to their daily lives. Through active, hands-on experience, participants learn to explore and use basic computer applications that are used in everyday life, such as internet searches, email, word processing, spreadsheets and multimedia.

Learn how to search the Internet and navigate between web pages. You will also learn about Internet security and how to save pictures and files.

Online Safety

Learn how to use the internet in a secure and confident manner and not fall victim to scams and frauds. Find out how to think smart when online, how to respond to certain situations and get tips on how to protect your personal and financial information online. Learn basic techniques in buying and selling goods online safely. To book into this class you need to have an email account.

Create your own online profile and learn how to navigate Job seeking websites. Bring in your current résumé and learn how to upload it and apply for online Jobs. Also you will learn to access to Centrelink or myGov online to: Create and use a Centrelink account, Create and use a myGov account, Download and use the Centrelink and Medicare mobile apps and Update your Income and Family Tax Benefit estimate.?Thursday 11:00am-1:00pm?Class may run other days upon request

Smart IT devices

Discover everything you need to know about how to use your smart device. Our smart IT devices course covers gesturing, typing, adding content, troubleshooting common issues, configuring email or presentations and downloading apps. Learn to use apps for music production, the basics to help you navigate through your device, apps and more. Bring your own device (mobile phone, iPad, tablet …).
